Introduction

This article defines a unified MP4 video specification designed to ensure reliable playback across Samsung SSSP/Tizen, LG webOS (all versions), Android players, BrightSign, Raspberry Pi, and modern browsers.

Instruction

Container:

    • MP4 (.mp4)

Video Codec:

    • H.264 (AVC)

    • Profile: High

    • Level: 4.1

Resolution (Hard Limit):

    • 1920 x 1080 (landscape)

    • 1080 x 1920 (portrait)

    • No upscaling
    • No 4K

Frame Rate:

    • 30 fps (constant only)

    • No variable FPS

    • Do not use 60 fps

Bitrate:

    • Average target: 8–12 Mbps, peak not to exceed 15 Mbps.

    • Absolute max: 15 Mbps

Audio:

    • AAC-LC

    • Stereo (2.0)

    • 48 kHz

    • 128–192 kbps

    • Audio must match video duration and remain in sync

Mac / QuickTime Requirements:

    • Remove QuickTime metadata

    • Do not export with “Fast Start for Streaming” via QuickTime

    • No Apple-specific color tags (nclc / gamma)

    • No edit lists or timecode tracks

Reason:

    • QuickTime-specific atoms and color metadata can cause playback issues, black frames, or skipped videos on Samsung SSSP and some LG players.
